His passion for the UTV industry manifests itself into some of the craziest builds we have ever seen. Greg Cottrell, the owner of Rugged Radios, has been known to have wild ideas for UTV builds. This team is known for their creativity, and this newest venture is the best yet. Their third? A Willys Jeep replica body on a Polaris General 1000, dubbed the Rugged General. They then created a second build using a Meyers Manx-style beach buggy body on another turbocharged XP platform. ![]() Their first foray into custom builds was the turbocharged VW Bug built on a Polaris RZR XP1000 Frame. Rugged Radios and NVFab have collaborated on a few projects, and this 1932 Ford Replica Hot Rod is their latest. The short answer is: Slap it on top of a 4 wheel drive, turbocharged, well-suspended offroad chassis like the 2018 RZR XP Turbo. However, what would you do with a ’32 Ford fiberglass body? This makes it possible to buy an entire 1932 replica Ford fiberglass body pre-chopped and have it shipped to your door. The very sought-after Deuce Coupe is still a fixture in American hot rodding today, with an amazing amount of aftermarket support. The question often arises of why build a four door sedan and not a roadster or a coupe? Bruce’s reply? “I got tired of scaring only one person at a time.A weekend show-car shell on a competent Baja-worthy 4WD frameįord’s early-30s Model B and Model 18 coupes are the most iconic hot rods of all time. The 1932 Lincoln dash is fitted with Stewart-Warner instruments, and is accented beautifully by a 4-spoke leather wrap steering wheel. Inside is a hand-made, full terracotta leather interior that utilize the original seat frames. Delivering the handling up front is a narrowed drop axle with tapered leaf spring and integrated sway bar, and in the rear are coil over shocks and springs with integrated sway bar. It is attached to a Tremec 5-speed manual that leads to a Ford 9” rear end.īringing all this power to a halt are Canepa Design 6-piston AP calipers up front, 4-piston AP calipers rear, and vented discs all around. Lurking up front is a 560hp all-aluminum 427ci Ford small block with Gurney Weslake heads and Weber carbs. Under the hood is where the fun really happens, and being true to the theme it is a Ford powerplant under the 25-louver hood. Some are obvious such as the 4” chopped roofline, and the Halibrand pin drive Indy magnesium wheels others are more subtle such as the elimination of the rain gutters, and the rear quarter window bodyline accent extended to front A-pillar. Utilizing the entire original body, frame, fenders, etc., the sedan includes more than 100 custom modifications. The goal of the build was to create an all-original Ford hot rod that was truly fast, handled well, and looked the part.
